With the Calshot Winter Track League starting this weekend (2nd November) Frank Kilsby will have another team mate to tackle the wooden boards in the form of Charlie Cooper who will be teaming up alongside Frank and competing in the 'A' League.
Further reports will appear as the league starts to take shape!
The women had their 500m TT tonight and it was the kilo TT for the men.
Madeline Moore did a pb with 37.322 for 11th place and Laura Clode did a pb also with 38.587 for 16th place. Brilliant rides from them both.
Ben Elliot did a 1.07.483, no pb today for Ben but still good enough for 13th place. Rowan Elliot did a 1.08.541 and only 2 tenths of his pb for 16th place. Again, brilliant rides from both.
Many thanks for this report from Rusine Heald
The men's team sprint was an interesting one with teams getting relegated in each round for not changing correctly, but thankfully not us. Dave Heald, Rowan Elliott and Ben Elliott recorded 49.822 in qualifiers to place 8th and get the joy of riding against the fastest team in the semis. They improved slightly in the semis for 49.550 which secured them 7th overall in the end.

Rowan Elliott had the men's sprint. The fastest qualifier Callum Skinner did a 10.193 which highlights the quality of the field. Rowan went 4 tenths quicker than last year with a 11.556 and was only 1 tenth off his pb. This made him 27th so unfortunately he did not progress to the rounds. The points qualifiers for the men had Jack Green and Andy Stuart for VC. Andy rode well but just missed out on a place for the final.
Jack did very well gaining a lap with another rider and picking up 6 points along the way. 26 pts gave him 6th in his heat and a ride in the final. He rode strongly in the 30k final to finish 14th with nearly half the field finding it too tough and giving in!
The women had team sprint and scratch race today. Madeline Moore and Laura Clode rode a fantastic 37.272 in qualifiers, placing 5th behind 4 very strong squad teams and beating some strong teams also. They cemented their 5th place in the ride offs, backing their ride up very well with a 37.386. The fastest women's team sprint duo VC has had for a good few years.
Jessica Hill had a solid ride in her first national scratch race, placing 20th with the top 8 taking laps and all being world, paralympic or olympic champions, so quite a good field!
Thank you Rusine Heald for another exciting report!
Laura Clode had the sprint today. She posted a pb of 12.655 for 9th in the qualifier. She then had very hard fought rounds with Katy Marchant and Hannah Blount and sadly left the comp after that. Some great, confident sprinting though.
Andy Stuart posted a great pb of 4.41.39 for 13th in the pursuit with Jack Green also riding well with a 4.52.05 for 27th.
The women also posted pbs in the pursuit with 19th for Jessica Hill in 4.12.579 and 12th for Madeline Moore with a 3.56.341. Loving all these pb's!!!!!
Thanks Rusine Heald for this update from day 3!
The women's team of Madeline Moore, Jessica Hill, Harriet Whewell and Rachel Murray posted 5:19.964 in the qualifying round of the 4K team pursuit. This put them in 3rd place behind the excellent teams from Wiggle Honda and Pearl Izumi. In 4th were Southampton University with a time of 5:30.
The girls rode against Southampton University in the ride off for 3rd, and managed to catch their opponents after only 5.5 laps. A very fast start and then the fact they could see the other team, just spurred them on to go for the catch early.
The team rode really well together. A special mention needs to go to Harriet Whewell who was really too poorly to ride but as our reserves were not available, she decided to ride to ensure the team could compete. With Harriet at full fitness, I am certain they could have posted a quicker time.
Well done ladies.
Many thanks to Rusine Heald for this report
VC St Raphael had 6 riders sporting the teams colours at Mildenhall this year.
We took a convincing 1st and 2nd in the Team Sprint and 1st in the Team sprint.
Dave Heald won the Sprint race on the Sunday with Rowan Elliot 2nd. Ben Elliot meanwhile had a 2nd in the 1500m. Jason Streather and Rowan Elliot were 2nd and 3rd in the 5km. Matt Winston was 2nd in the 3km. Jamie Streather put in some good performances also. There were also many wins and placings in the other events as VC St Raphael continued to showed their strength throughout the meeting!
It was a fantastic sunny day for the grass track at Scarborough.
Andy Leveton was riding well for a win in the short distance series event, which meant he won overall in that series for 2014.
Dave Heald was a strong 2nd on the day and took joint 2nd in the series for the year.
Dave was also 2nd in the 500m handicap, Andy was doing great in the 8km and benefitted from some solid team riding from Dave!
A good day in the office for the VC St Raphael team!
